On October 31 RA NA President Artur Baghdasaryan received the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Belgian Kingdom Ann-Marie Lizin will be in Armenia with an official visit.

During the meeting issues related to the development of the Armenian-Belgian parliamentary relations, regional policy and Euro-Integration processes were discussed.

NA President informed her about the important events of the political life in Armenia, noting that the day of the referendum of the constitutional reforms is already appointed, and the positive result is great importance for the deepening of democratic reforms. The European Integration is a political priority for Armenia, and on that road the study of the Belgian experience is useful. During the meeting the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations was highlighted, which can greatly promote the deepening of European Integration. The possibility of establishing regional ties and holding the regional conference with the participation of Belgium in 2006, where issues of establishing regional relations will be debated, also was discussed.

They touched upon regional problems. Mrs. Lizin proposed to support the meeting of the Parliament Presidents of Armenia and Turkey in Brussels in 2006, on the agenda of which will be issues related to mutual relations. NA President noted that he is for the normalization of relations with Turkey and finds that the main problems should be discussed in open and public way, having the starting point the future. Artur Baghdasaryan highlighted in the regional economic programmes the equal participation of all countries and in those issues the support of the European Union with the aim of excluding the double standards. They highlighted the existing public favourable atmosphere in two countries.

During the meeting other issues were also discussed.
